At WPRESTIGE ASL, we combine the power of American Sign Language (ASL), sports, and emotional learning to create a dynamic, engaging educational experience. Our programs are designed to empower both children and adults by integrating language acquisition with physical activity. We travel from school to school, offering a unique approach that incorporates ASL into basketball training, while also focusing on social-emotional development. This holistic approach helps students connect with their emotions, improve their communication skills, and build confidence in themselves.
Our founder, Coach DeVernie Winston, is a former collegiate basketball coach who has won 2 National Championships and was named National Coach of the Year twice. Raised in a Deaf family, Coach Winston’s passion for basketball and ASL led him to create a program that bridges the gap between the hearing and Deaf communities. Through his personal journey as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), he has developed a unique program that combines the best of both worlds—sports and language—while fostering emotional intelligence in students. His experience coaching at the highest levels and his commitment to the Deaf community makes WPRESTIGE ASL one of a kind.
