Coach DeVernie Winston brings over 17 years of experience as a collegiate basketball coach, with an impressive track record of two National Championships and two National Coach of the Year Honors. His extensive background in basketball includes not only coaching but also serving as the Assistant Coach for the USA National Deaf Women’s Basketball Team, where he helped guide elite athletes to success on the international stage.
As a "CODA" (Child of Deaf Adults), Coach Winston is deeply committed to bridging the gap between the Deaf and hearing communities. He is also a skilled ASL Interpreter, a role he has embraced from a young age while helping his Deaf parents navigate the hearing world. Beyond basketball, Coach Winston is the Executive Director for WPRESTIGE SPORTS, a non-profit organization focused on developing young athletes through both sports and language. His unique approach to integrating American Sign Language with basketball training sets him apart as a leader in both the sports and Deaf education communities.
